Safe Servicing / Combination Change

This is a Yale 101 ½ duel combination safe lock that is used in an Ely Norris Cannonball Safe

We generally do a very basic service check when we do a combination change. The basic check includes: check for loose dial ring, check for loose spline key, check for loose screws and bolts, check lock tumblers and if they have moveable flies to make sure they work (properly). We also check bolt work and hinges.

If we find minor problems, we just fix it but if we find something more serious then we talk to the customer and there maybe more charges.

If safe lock needs a full tear down for service, then all parts are removed from the lock – cleaned and lubricated as needed. Note: Although very rare, there are safes we can’t service.

Most mechanical locks are easy to work on but not all.

Safes with electronic locks have less to service but there is the bolt work, hinges and the detent if the safe has one.

Although very rare, not all safes can have the combination changed.
